The View from Someone Else’s Window - "Somewhere in Wisconsin"
I often think about how many of the people I love live very far away from me. People I might only see a handful of times in my life.
Last year, when my father began moving from Chicago to France, he started sending me photos of his new surroundings; simple snapshots, glimpses of what he was seeing each day.
Something about those images ignited a passion in me. I picked up my brushes and began painting landscapes, a subject matter I’d rarely engaged with before. Each scene brought me closer to him, like I could step through the canvas and share his view for a moment...
…and as I painted, I thought of all the other views, and all of the other landscapes my scattered loved ones were seeing.
Thus, a collection was born: The View from Someone Else’s Window—paintings that bridge the distance, even if just for a moment.
In this painting, tree branches sway just beyond the window pane as the delicate green and yellow leaves dance in the sunlight. This piece brings lightness to any room it is displayed in and arrives ready to hang!
