Making art isn’t glamorous.
I know what you’re thinking… Instagram says it is! It’s beautiful people in sun kissed studios tuning into their inner muse. It’s artists dancing in fields of sunflowers, while inspiration rains down around them. Except…it isn’t. Or at least not for me.
For me, making art is a MISADVENTURE.
It is choosing to go into my poorly lit, carpeted studio time and time again. Even when inspiration isn’t striking. Especially when inspiration isn’t striking. It’s mixing paint and getting a headache from the fumes, it’s stepping in paint I flung across the room, and accidentally taking sips of my paint water. It’s making artwork that can only be described as trash and continuing to show up anyway.
That’s what making art is.
And if you keep at it, you’ll eventually make something worth sharing. Or at the very least, something your mom likes.
for ten years now I have been fortunate enough to be sharing and selling my artwork worldwide.
I am a self-taught artist, painting in my carpeted studio in southeast Wisconsin.
The carpet isn’t ideal… but the art is.
My painting journey began in 2014 with nail polish. Dot paintings, made with nail polish. They stunk. Literally and figuratively. Quickly I transitioned to real paint. Guided and encouraged by my Granny, (also an artist who gets to hang her hat on the fact that at one point her work hung in the Smithsonian.) I carried on, slowly and carefully crafting my own personal aesthetic. Today I invite you to view my paintings. Paintings designed with passion, humor, and a deep love of color and of course, flowers.
I would love to hear from you.
